Who pays for a date?

Answer

Who pays for a date depends entirely on the relationship between the two people and the agreement they come to. Traditionally, men pay for women on dates; however, The Huffington Post points out that couples have become more egalitarian.

According to The Huffington Post, research by the American Sociological Association finds that 84 percent of men and 58 percent of women say men mostly pay for dates even after a couple has been dating for a while. However, men and women expect a more equal split after a relationship has further developed, with 83 percent of women and 75 percent of men saying they share expenses after dating for 6 months. A couple in no way has to follow social conventions and has a choice when paying for dates.
