Who sings the song that goes, "I said hey, what's going on"?

The song that goes "I said hey, what's going on" was written and sung by Linda Perry of the 4 Non Blondes. The song "What's Up?" appeared on the 4 Non Blondes' 1992 debut album, "Bigger, Better, Faster, More!"

"What's Up?" was the 4 Non Blondes' only hit, but it was more successful outside of the United States. It reached number 14 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, but it became a number-one hit in Europe. The 4 Non Blondes disbanded in 1994.

The song "What's Up?" never actually has the words "what's up." The title was chosen to avoid confusion with the 1971 Marvin Gaye song "What's Going On."
