Who sings, "Na Na, Hey Hey, Kiss Him Goodbye"?

The song "Kiss Him Goodbye" was released by a band identified as Steam. Originally, the song was supposed to be put on the B side of another single, but the record company had other ideas.

"Kiss Him Goodbye" was written by Paul Leka, Gary DeCarlo and Dale Frashuer. In 1969, DeCarlo, using the name Garrett Scott, was working on an album for Mercury Records. "Kiss Him Goodbye" was recommended for the B side for one of his singles. It was recorded with that intent, but a Mercury executive thought the song showed promise and decided that it should be released as a single. Leka, DeCarlo and Frashuer felt that "Kiss Him Goodbye" was inferior to DeCarlo's other songs. They were opposed to the single, but they eventually agreed to have it released with name of a fictitious band, Steam.
