Answer
Whitey Lockman nailed a double down the left field line. This scored in Dark and advanced Mueller to third. Mueller, however, slid awkwardly and broke his ankle. He was immediately replaced by pinch-runner, Clint Hartung. With Clint on third and Lockman on second, Bobby Thomson hit a home run off Dodger's pitcher, Ralph Branca. This was known as the 'shot heard around the world' and led the Giants to win the 1951 World Series.
