Spotting after periods is a thing that one cannot really tell the cause and so the gynecologist should be consulted. The normal menstrual bleeding is supposed to last for about three to five days. Hormonal imbalances and an infection can cause the spotting at times.

Spotting after having a period is usually a normal occurrence that most women will experience at least once in their lifetime. There are varying reasons in why one will spot before or after having their period. Sometimes this can happen when ovulating due to a temporary drop in estrogen and sometimes, periods just aren't normal. The blood from spotting can vary in color and sometimes spotting is accompanied by cramping as well. Most of the time, spotting after a period is of no concern. However, it can also be an indicator that one is pregnant or beginning the stages of menopause.
