Why Did the Cold War End?

Answer

The Cold War officially ended in1991. The main reasons that contributed to its end were; the arms race was proving expensive and disadvantageous to the USSR economy. This faltered the plans to control Eastern Europe. At the fall of Berlin wall (in 1989 and 1990), there was free economy and free elections that saw the end of communism. In 1991, the soviet union broke down to its constituent countries.
