Why Did the Partition of India Happen?

Answer

India was partitioned by Britain in order to maintain peace between Muslims and Hindus who couldn’t live together. This partition led to the creation on 14 August, 1947 of the sovereign state of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and on 15 August, 1947 of the secular Republic of India.
