Why Did the Renaissance Take Place?

Answer

The renaissance probably took place due to two factors; the sacking of the great Muslim cities of Moorish Spain and the fall of Constantinople in 1453. This allowed western Christians access to the vast knowledge of the Islamic empire and drove the scholars in Constantinople to escape westwards to escape invading Turks. The word renaissance was a French word to mean 'rebirth'.
