Why Did the Spanish Armada Fail?

Answer

The main reason why the Spanish Armada failed was due to communication problems. The Messenger ships traveled at the same speed as the Armada itself and the communications between Parma's army and the Armada were not good. Another reason was that the Armada received the wrong information that Parma's army was not ready when they were at Calais.

The Spanish armada failed because of poor strategy. The English had eighty ships with flammable material and set fire on them. This caused the Spaniards to panic and scatter the Armada's formation. They then fled to the open sea straight into the gunfire of the waiting English.
The Spanish Armada proved to be an expensive disaster for the Spanish for a number of reasons. Firstly, their attack was discovered earlier, thus Sir Francis Drake attacked and destroyed a number of ships being prepared for the Armada and when the Armada first sailed, in April 1588, there was a terrible storm that damaged many ships forcing them to return to port for repair. The Spanish Armada failed because their strategy was 'hand-to-hand combat', therefore they did not use most of their ammunition. The British used long range attacks under the command of Sir Francis Drake. It was acclaimed to be the greatest victory in Britain, medals that bore messages such as 'he came, he saw, he fled' were made all over England.
The Spanish Armada was the Spanish fleet that sailed against England under the command of the Duke of Medina Sidonia in 1588, with the intention of overthrowing Elizabeth I of England.
