Why Did They Choose Panama for Building the Canal?

Answer

They chose Panama to build the canal because it was the perfect location for it.It was relatively narrow, and it was the idea place to connect the oceans. It was the shortest distance to get to the Pacific Ocean. The US built the canal after the french started the project and backed out of it. The canal reduced shipping time and costs, and it shortened travel time. The canal is 48 miles long. France started work on the canal in 1881, and it was first opened and used on August 15, 1914.
