Why do eyes open after death?

Eyes open in death because the muscles to blink and close one's eyes is no longer being stimulated. It can't be stimulated, because the muscles are inactive, due to death. Therefore, it reverts back to neutral state, much like hands neither clench into fists, nor are entirely open.
