Why do some volcanic eruptions kill more than others?

Answer

Volcanic eruptions are among the earths most powerful and destructive forces. Some volcanoes kill more than others because some volcanic eruptions are explosive while others are not. If magma is thin and runny, gases can escape easily from it and the magma erupts, it flows out of the volcano.  Lava flows rarely kill people, because they move slowly enough for people to get out of their way.
