When slaughtering an animal, Muslims make an incision through the veins on the neck leaving the other parts intact, something that cannot be done in pigs, because of the structure of a pig's body. Further, according to Islamic teachings, a pig is a dirty animal that eats its own waste and even flesh; therefore, one of the animals that are declared Haram (illegal to eat) by Islamic teachings.
