Why is Stevie Wonder blind ?

Answer

Stevie Wonder lost his eyesight as an infant. He was born two months premature and placed in an incubator. The excess of oxygen in the incubator led to retinopathy of prematurity, an eye disease that affects premature infants.

Wonder was born on May 13, 1950, in Saginaw, Mich. In spite of his blindness, Wonder achieved chart-topping success at the age of 13 with the song "Fingertips," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Wonder has won 22 Grammy Awards, been named the 15th greatest artist of all time by Rolling Stone and been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
