Why Should People Not Live near Volcanoes?

People should not live near volcanoes because every once in a while they explode and release poisonous gases, ash and liquid rock that would kill them and destroy their property. Some people however choose to live close to volcanoes despite all these risks because of soil fertility and availability of minerals.
