Bob Marley was born in February 6, 1945 at St. Ann’s Parish in Jamaica. He was the world's first reggae superstar and was part of the Jamaican group The Wailers, along with reggae greats Peter Tosh and Bunny Livingston. Marley who was a Rastafarian, got attention for writing songs recorded by other musicians. But then he came into his own international fame with songs that spoke of life on the streets, politics and religion. He was a worldwide superstar before dying of cancer at a young age of 36 in 1981.
