The Golden Temple was built for men and women from all walks of life and religion to come and worship God equally. Located in north-western India, in the city of Amritsar, it is the most sacred place of the religion of Sikhism. The temple was built between 1581 and 1606 during the reign of the fifth Sikh Guru Arjan.
