I found it!! ANSIX.LWP at start up to add an ANSI tool bar causes the problem. Disable Startup scripts fixes the problem. EDIT; SCRIPTS & MACROS; SET STARTUP SCRIPTS, disable ANSIX.LWP and the blank box goes away. I answered my own question...
