MRTG uses snmp, so you need to set it up as such: snmp-server host inside 1.1.1.1 community commname inside, 1.1.1.1 and commname should be replaced with whatever matches the MRTG

Im pretty sure you need Linux, im guessing the system specifications would be fairly low, 32-64mb ram 100mhz CPU as all it does is analyse logs and put them into graphs.

Time is pulled from the server for mrtg. Make sure that everything on the server are in sync with timezone and time. I usually use an NTP server to do this
