if you are in the Army, you can get the middleware by going into AKO and choosing FILES at the top next to the email. I assume the other branches have similar things in their online presence. Source(s): did it myself

you must have an issued CAC reader. pretty sure you cannot get them from any civilian source. not even sure just anyone can have one either. DH was given his by the command as he was required to have access at home.
