they will probably start limping, if u touch there paw they will probably wimper, unless your dog has been a fighting dog, they teach fighting dogs not to show pain.

Well, it will be completely avoiding using it, for starters. Usually limping, or not touching the ground with it at all. That would be the most obvious sign, but this can imply other things too (general foot pain).
