Piebald is not a breed or a type but a color pattern. This coloring is common among Paints and Pintos. The other pattern is what is called a Skewbald. It's the equivalent of Overo and Tobiano color patterns

I'm not 100% sure because those are UK terms, but I think skewbald and piebald have to do with color, not markings. Piebald is black and white and skewbald is any other color and white.

Well for a start you can't get black and white skewbald, sorry if that sounded rude. Skewbald means white with any other colour except black. Piebald is white with black.
