This isn't an identity. If x = π/4, for example, the left hand side is 2sec²(π/4) - 2sec²(π/4)sin²(π/4) - cos²(π/4) = 4 - 2 - 1/2 = 3/2 ≠ 1. Perhaps there is a typo somewhere. (??)
