Well, apart from a pump, you could use either a Buchner Funnel + flask, or, for small amounts, a Hirsch Funnel. For very small amounts a vacuum set-up with a Wilstatter Nail works really well - quite an antique bit of equipment now.

I live by HEPA filtration. I honestly know nothing about micro-filtration. I have asthma so clean air is a must for me. Also, if you have central air, purchase Filtrete air filters. They work great.
