It's not a physical location, it's a virtual location stored in RAM memory. You should be able to 'paste' the contents of the clipboard into a document or field by right clicking or using the 'edit' menu list.

As the clipboard is in RAM then as soon as you copy something else to it or turn off your computer then the image there is lost. RAM is purely transient, once power is removed from it then whatever's in it is lost for good.
