British professional wrestler Davey Boy Smith passed away on May 18, 2002 at the age of 39. He suffered a heart attack while vacationing in Invermere, B.C., with his girlfriend, Andrea Hart.
Smith was on the verge of a comeback. His death came just a week after he participated in a tag-team match with his son in Winnipeg. Known as the "British Bulldog," Smith won the WWF Tag Team and Intercontinental Championships and a WWE Hardcore Championship. On April 26, 1997, in Berlin, Smith became the first WWE European Champion, and he was one of only two "true" Europeans to ever claim the honor.
