To check email on Hotmail, users log in to their accounts at Outlook.com, and the inbox, with all incoming emails, is presented. The junk folder is just beneath the inbox. This is where unsolicited emails are found, but sometimes important emails may end up here by mistake.
As of September 2014, to navigate to the Hotmail website, users were redirected to Outlook after typing the Hotmail URL into their browsers. Users can also directly navigate to Outlook, the email service of which replaces Hotmail. The same log-in credentials from Hotmail are used, and messages sent to the Hotmail address are found in the inbox at Outlook. A user may voluntarily acquire a new Outlook address to replace his existing Hotmail one.
