Q:

How do you make an inkjet print head cleaning solution?

A:

To make inkjet print head cleaning solution, combine filtered water, rubbing alcohol and liquid dish soap in a lidded jar. This 15-minute procedure requires water, a lidded jar, a coffee filter, a rubber band, paper towels, rubbing alcohol, liquid dish soap, measuring spoons and a microwave oven.

  1. Clean the jar

Uncap the jar, and wash it with a mixture of warm water and liquid dish soap. Rinse the jar thoroughly, and dry it with paper towels.

  2. Mix the cleaning solution

Place the coffee filter over the mouth of the jar, and secure it with a rubber band. Fill the jar halfway with lukewarm water, and discard the filter. Add a drop of liquid dish soap and 3 teaspoons of rubbing alcohol. Do not use concentrated dish soap or one that contains antimicrobial beads.

  3. Blend the solution

Close the jar, and shake it for 30 seconds.

  4. Warm the solution

Remove the lid, and set it aside. Microwave the cleaning solution for approximately 45 seconds. It should be warm, but not hot. Use the warmed solution immediately, and throw away the used portion. If you have some solution left over, screw the lid on tightly, and store the jar in a cool location. Always warm the solution before immersing the print heads.
