The abbreviation NOC stands for networks operation center. A NOC is a location from which network administrators monitor and maintain telecommunications networks.
NOCs are used by large enterprises with large networks, public network providers and government agencies to monitor complex networking systems that require an availability. The center is the central point for troubleshooting networks, communicating with technicians and monitoring affiliated networks. Problems in a network operation center are usually handled in a hierarchic manner to speed up remediation. NOCs can also monitor social networks to stay ahead of any disruptive event. An organization may have more than one NOC to maintain different networks.
