The Ford F-150 pickup truck comes in several different classes, each with different upgrades and options. The XL is the most basic model. The XLT and STX are mid-range options, and the FX4 has the highest cost of the classes.
The XL model typically has the lowest sticker price, and the STX and XLT models are slightly higher in cost. The FX4 is the most expensive of these Ford options, starting at $40,570 in 2014.
With all four options, buyers can choose from a Regular, Super or SuperCrew cab. In addition, the trucks come with either a 5.5- or 6.5-foot bed. An 8-foot bed is available with the XL and XLT. For customers who need to haul a trailer, the trailer-tow package is standard with the FX4; although, it is an available option with the other three models.
Each model has several engine options. Buyers of the XL, STX and XLT can choose between a 3.7-liter, V6 FFV engine or a 5.0-liter, V8 FFV engine. The 3.5-liter, V6 EcoBoost engine is a third option for the XL and XLT. A 6.2-liter, V8 engine is available for the XLT and FX4 models. Other options for the FX4 include the 3.5-liter, V6 EcoBoost engine or the 5.0-liter, V8 FFV engine.
