Durig the final charge, Cruise throws his katana, but keeps his wakizashi. After the samurai are mowed down by the Gatling gun, it is Cruise's wakizashi that Katsumoto kills himself with.\r\rWhile I think it's odd he would throw his katana but keep his wakizashi, it's a wakizashi in his hand after he throws the katana.
