Ezra Pound was born in Hailey, Idaho, but he was brought up in Wyncote, Philadelphia. His father, Homer Loomis Pound, worked as an assistant assayer at the US Mint. At the age of twelve Pound entered Cheltenham, a military school, where he was introduced to Greek and Latin.
