The village of Edgworth lies in the North East corner of North Turton between Broadhead Brook on the west (expanded artificially to form the Wayoh reservoir) and Quarlton Brook in the south east. The ground ranges from 650 to 1100 feet above sea level.

Founded in 1902 the cricket club, situated in the heart of Edgworth village has been a focal point for the community. Most of the players are from around the Edgworth area. Edgworth is one of the oldest clubs to play in the Bolton & District Association.

The name Edgworth is Saxon in origin, thus this is an old place with a history lost in the mist of time. It is especially noted for the number of 17th century "Folds" formed as enclosures of farmsteads and cottages, the number of these still remaining, add a measure of interest to the surrounding countryside.
