Gyoshū Hayami was the pseudonym of a Japanese painter in the Nihonga style,
active during the Taishō and Shōwa eras. His real name was Eiichi Maita.
Its second director, Tomiji Yamazaki (1925- ), broadened and deepened the
collection, acquiring works by Hayami Gyoshu and initiating programs such as
