Haile Selassie I 23 July 1892 – 27 August 1975), born Tafari Makonnen
Woldemikael, was Ethiopia's regent from 1916 to 1930 and Emperor from 1930 to
Haile Selassie I ruled Ethiopia as emperor. He opposed the Italian invasion in
World War II. He was ousted from office in 1974 and died mysteriously in 1975.
