Q:

When is "Budget Day"?

A:

On Budget Day, the third Tuesday in September, the Dutch Minister of Finance presents the central government budget and the budget memorandum to the House of Representatives. The Minister of Finance also delivers a speech on the state of the Dutch economy.

Following Budget Day, Parliament debates the budget and memorandums. The discourse involves examining the dominant political issues and then the economic and financial policies. Once the Dutch Parliament has approved the budgets, the ministries and House of Representatives execute and monitor the implementation of the budget policies. Preparations for Budget Day actually begin the preceding October with the Minister sending instructions to the various departments.
