Q:

Why is Kenya a developing country?

A:

According to the Canadian Government's Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Department, Kenya is considered a developing country because it faces numerous challenges in development of its society. The country's ongoing development problems include issues with constant droughts leading to food shortages and a high unemployment rate.

Other issues include large inequalities in income levels between regions and problems with border security. Kenya also experiences much political violence, which affects education in the country by displacing entire schools full of teachers and students as they seek shelter from violent crime. According to the Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Department, Kenya ranks at 145 out of a total of 187 countries in 2012's United Nations Human Development Index.
