The urban area of Barcelona exists beyond the administrative limits of the city and adds an additional 4.5 million people to the area. It is considered the largest metropolis on the Mediterranean Sea. The western boundary includes the Serra de Collserola mountain range, which is the tallest peak in Barcelona at 1,680 feet high. The city is well-known for hosting the 1992 Summer Olympics.
