You probably think of fiber-optic internet as something that’s only available in large cities. But the truth is, there are many areas across the country where you can get the service. If you’ve ever found yourself asking, “How do I get fiber in my area?” then read on to learn more about this faster, more reliable internet service.

Is Fiber Internet Available In My Area?

The best way to find out is to contact your local internet service provider (ISP). To see if your ISP offers fiber internet, check their website or call them. They should be able to tell you what type of internet plans are available in your area.

Why Is Fiber Internet Not Available in My Area?

The FBA reported about 43% of Americans had access to fiber internet in 2022, which is a huge increase from just a few years ago. One of the biggest reasons that fiber internet is not available in certain areas is because there is no infrastructure in place to support it. Another reason that fiber internet is not available in some areas is that the deployment cost is simply too high.

When Will Fiber Internet Be in My Area?

The answer to this question, unfortunately, isn’t a simple one. It all depends on a number of factors, including the availability of fiber infrastructure in your area and the willingness of your internet service provider (ISP) to invest in deploying it.

There are a few popular providers. AT&T, Centurylink, and Spectrum are three of the most common:

Is AT&T Fiber Optic Internet Available in My Area?

To see if AT&T Fiber is available in your area, visit the AT&T website and enter your zip code into the “Check Availability” tool. From there, you’ll be able to see if AT&T Fiber is available at your address and, if so, what plan options are available.

To find out if Centurylink has fiber optic internet in your area, you can use their online coverage checker. Simply enter your address and zip code to see if service is available in your area.

Does Spectrum Have Fiber in My Area?
